2017 / 2019 Manifestos

This embodies Labour’s vision for a new way forward based on equality, prudent fiscal judgement, human rights, employee rights, re-nationalisation of public services taking them out of the reach of hedge funds and shareholders and back into the hands of the people.

Labour’s new green deal was transformative, pumping investment into post-industrial black spots and giving ‘green industry’ jobs and pride back to communities that were left behind – starting from Thatcher’s cynical cuts and continuing unabated to the present day.

These two manifestos were untouchable in terms of content, intent and attention to detail. Whilst the leader and his shadow cabinet colleagues were relentlessly attacked by the right-wing press, they couldn’t attack the ideas – fully costed, sensible, pragmatic.

They embodied democratic socialism and the overriding principle of people before profit. Because if you invest in people, reasonable profit will follow organically, and a fluid dynamic economy will be there to be enjoyed – by the many, not the few.
